Route Description
"As the big cities of the Northeast fade into the distance, the Civil War battlefields of Richmond and Fredericksburg pass outside your window follwed by the dreamy landscapes of North Carolina. In North Carolina, the Silver Star parts ways with the Silver_Meteor, heading inland before meeting again in Savannah. The Silver Star travels on to Miami via Tampa. The Silver Meteor does not make the westerly jaunt to Tampa but travels straight on to Miami. The Palmetto ends its journey in Savannah."
The rail travel distance between New York and Miami via the Silver Meteor is 1389 miles. The rail travel distance between the same two cities via the Silver Star (Tampa) is 1480 miles. The rail travel time is about 28 hours on the Silver Meteor and 32 hours on the Silver Star.
