Piedmont Regional Route Description
The regional Piedmont begins its journey in the North Carolina State Capitol of Raleigh and travels to the metropolis of Charlotte, North Carolina along the same route as the long distance train the "Carolinian". The May 2010 Amtrak published rail travel distance between Raleigh and Charlotte is 173 miles and the published rail travel time is about 3 hours and 15 minutes.
