Route Description
Amtrak’s Missouri River Runner travels along the Missouri River in eastern Missouri to Jefferson City, the Missouri state capitol. At Jefferson the train parts ways with the wide Missouri and continues its way on to Kansas City via Sedalia, Warrensburg and the Kansas City metropolitan cities of Lees Summit and Independence.
The service runs twice daily in both directions leaving both cities once in the morning and once afternoon.
The approximate rail travel distance between St. Louis and Kansas City on the Missouri River Runner is 285 miles and the rail travel time is between 5 and 6 hours.
