Route Description
This short round trip is a great way for first time train travelers to slow down and enjoy the great scenery of northeastern Massachusetts, southeast New Hampshire and touch the Atlantic Ocean in Maine.
The rail travel distance between Portland, Maine and Boston, Massachusetts on the Downeaster Route is about 115 miles. The rail travel time is about 2-1/2 hours.
