Texas Eagle Route Added!
The Texas Eagle Route - Amtrak Trains No. 21 and 22
has now been added to Rail Passenger USA. The Texas Eagle runs between Chicago and Los Angeles via San Antonio, Texas. If you include the leg between San Antonio and Los Angeles, it is currently Amtrak's longest route traversing over 2700 miles and 41 station stops in 4 days.

Amtrak's Texas Eagle State Site is also an excellent source of detailed information for this great route.
Colorado's Front Range Tunnels
Two new reports have been added to the Travelogues section of Rail Passenger USA; "The Tunnel District" and "Raymond, Colorado to East Portal Moffat Tunnel"
The Tunnel District is brief article that includes maps of the tunnels on the California Zephyr route between Denver and Fraser (Winter Park). The maps contain links to Windows Live aerial views of each of the 30 tunnels and links to related rail photographs shot by others. Most of the linked photos are to individual photographs contained on Matt's Front Range Rail Photos website.
Matt has spent over 10 years hiking (and otherwise making his way) through the rough Colorado terrain to obtain his photographs. In addition he has provided some information in his "How Do I Get There?" section if your interested in railfanning in the area.
Click here to download a Moffat Tunnel Sub "Timetable" (pdf) that shows the tunnel mileposts (Denver equals 0.0) and the length of each of the tunnels in the Tunnel District.
"Raymond, Colorado to East Portal Moffat Tunnel" provides a glimpse into Ray's front yard and includes some photographs taken on a couple of summertime outings along the Peak to Peak Highway through Ward, Nederland and Rollinsville and on westward to the Moffat Tunnel via East Portal Road (also known as Rollins Pass Road).
Happy Rails to You!
