City of New Orleans!

The City of New Orleans Route Guide has finally been uploaded to http://www.railpassengerusa.com/! Ray's love of trains, music and history keeps him coming back to ride this route that runs between Chicago and New Orleans time and time again. The roots of jazz, the blues, rock and roll, traditional country music and much more of our nation's musical history was made along this route. The Illinois Central locomotives may not power the trains anymore, and the train leaves Chicago in the afternoon now, but the route is still there if you want to take a tour. Check out Arlo Guthrie's composition as sung by Willy Nelson that says more than we here could ever compose about this train!

Silver Rails Resort!

Ray had the privilege of attending the ribbon cuttings at the Silver Rails Resort in February... these ribbon cuttings are just the tip of the iceberg preceding the forthcoming "Silver Rail Resort" project in this budding Midwest community. Check out Carl Morrison's excellent report at http://trainweb.org/carl/LaPlataFeb2008/!

A new feature, that we failed to mention in last month's newsletter, is the External Links feature. On the third Page of each Route Guide you will find the icon to these links. The links are free of commercial content and contain rail information that you may not have viewed before.

As always, happy rails to you!

PS: For those of you who don't realize that Waylon, Willy and the Boys (Johnny Cash and Kris Kristofferson) all performed together as a group, check this one out... "The Highwaymen"). But then again, Mamas don't let your babies grow up to cowboys!
