Lazy Holiday!

We accomplished at lot this month even though Ray was out enjoying a land/sea cruise.

Ray returned to the hills yesterday after a month of travel... Chicago, New Orleans, Houston, Galveston, Cozumel, Roatan (Honduras), Yucatan (Progresso), Galveston, Houston, Athens GA (Atlanta), Washington DC, Chicago and back to Denver. He's ready for a nap, but it was a great trip.

Amtrak's Capitol Limited that runs between DC and Chicago was delayed on January 30th due to a horrendous wind storm on Lake Erie that blew a few freight cars on the train in front of them out into Sandusky Bay (See photo below). Fortunately it was the train in front of them and not them! So... Ray got back one day late. The photo reminds him of the 12-18 foot seas that were experienced on the Gulf on the way back.

Ray's wonderful family arranged the sea cruise portion of the trip. It was a family reunion planned 18 months ago. It was a great trip even though Ray is disappointed in himself since he missed a couple of evenings with them. He became reacquainted with many of them in some of the preplanned activities... Ray and Al's activities were not preplanned.

Even though Ray was out sailing this month, there have been a couple of new features added to www.railpassengerusa.com:

Aerial Photography

The slide shows have been upgraded to add a feature called "Fly Me First". This feature allows downloading of data showing the location of each station stop on each route. The location of the stations is based on Rail Passenger LLC's interpretation of the exact location of each station stop. Much of the published popular search engine data does not match this data. Also the Station Area Map of each slide show has been linked to Microsoft Live Search Maps that allow exploration of each station stop. The location of the stations on these maps has been provided by others and has not been researched by Rail Passenger, LLC.

We're working on the "City of New Orleans" slide show now. It will be published next month.

Music

Ray wants to add some music to the site. If you have any suggestions please let us know by visiting http://www.railpassengerusa.com/feedback.php

Happy rails to you!
