October
2009 - Football Special
Carolinian
Our
feature train of the month is the Carolinian. The Carolinian travels
daily between New York City and Charlotte, North Carolina serving the
North Carolina communities of Rocky Mount, Wilson, Selma-Smithfield,
Raleigh, Cary, Durham, Burlington, Greensboro, High Point, Salisbury,
Kannapolis along the way.
Curretnly both the north
and south bound Carolinian leave the two destination cities in the
morning and complete their journey mid-evening of the same day. The
Carolinian and the regional Piedmont train, that runs between Raleigh
and Charlotte, are financed and operated in partner ship with the Stat
of North Carolina.

NFL
Cities by Train
We
decided to have some football fun this season and check out how we
would
travel by train to an NFL game if we got the hankering. Links to the
NFL franchises and stadiums and the long distance Amtrak trains that
serve the franchise cities are provided below. This list also serves as
a handy guide to the current, ever
changing Stadium names. Only three
NFL cities currently
don't have convenient train service. They are Green Bay, Tennessee
(Nashville) and Phoenix. Phoenix is served by the Sunset Limited but
the stadium is 53 miles north of the Maricopa, Arizona
station.
Here's hoping that
your
team clobbers the other guys! Relax on your train trip to the NFL city
of your choice and back!
Note: All external links
are designed
to open in a new tab or new
window so that his letter remains open in it's original window.

News at Rail Passenger USA
Antwerp
Ray
deciced to take some time off in September, so there was no newsletter
issued last month. When he takes time off the old guy gets grouchy,
so we decided to post another link on the Favorites
Page of railpassengerusa.com
that he was told to watch whenever he
became extremely annoying. This very popular YouTube video was filmed
in the Antwerp
Belgium Central Station. When we first viewed it this spring, it had
only been viewed about 40,000 times. It has since been viewed over 11.5
million times. You have our money back guarantee that viewing
this fantastic stunt will get you out of the doldrums. Turn up your
speakers and then click on Antwerp
here or on our Favorites page.
"FullScreen
Viewing" of Power Point Shows
All
of our Power Point Shows are
designed to be viewed in the "full screen" viewing mode. This best
approximates what you would see if you were to open a slide show in
Power Point itself. Most browsers allow you to switch back and forth
between the "full screen" view and the "normal view" simply by clicking
on F11 at the top of your keyboard.
